Man halts assault after being struck by hammer

A domestic dispute resulted in a felony arrest for aggravated assault when it got physical and required intervention from a third party at the scene. Shawn Kentrell Bryant, 36, was arrested July 18 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault under the family violence act.

Prisoner requests sentence reduction; judge says no

An inmate serving a 30-year sentence for a Jones County conviction for aggravated assault was back in court asking for a reduction in his sentence. Keith Antonio Booze Jr. was represented by defense attorney Tim Lam in the July 21 motion.
