Man halts assault after being struck by hammer

A domestic dispute resulted in a felony arrest for aggravated assault when it got physical and required intervention from a third party at the scene.
Shawn Kentrell Bryant, 36, was arrested July 18 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault under the family violence act.

DA disqualified from investigating Burt Jones in 2020 election probe

A Fulton County judge disqualified Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis Monday from continuing to investigate state Sen. Burt Jones’ alleged role in trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

Candidate for Georgia House District 133 arrested for DUI

Kenneth Austin Vance, who is the school safety director for Putnam County Charter School System and also a Republican candidate for the Georgia House District 133 seat, was arrested last month for DUI.
The district includes large portions of Jones and Baldwin counties.

Prisoner requests sentence reduction; judge says no
