May 27 Corporal Carr was monitoring traffic on Gray Hwy. when he ran a GA tag on a vehicle in front of him to check for valid insurance and registration. The in-car computer alerted that the vehicle had no active insurance. Carr activated his blue lights and conducted a traffic stop at this time.

The third annual JoCOLA summer reading challenge is underway in Jones County, where students can win prizes for reading any books they choose this summer. The summer reading challenge started May 26 and will end on Aug. 5.

Primary election results mostly mirror state’s choices

Jones County voters re-elected their Board of Education chairman in the May 24 election and mirrored almost all the results in the state races. The voter turnout for the party primaries and BOE contest was 31.93 percent with 6,440 ballots counted, including 12 provisional ballots.
