Defendant found guilty of child molestation

The trial of a Jones County man facing multiple child molestation charges last week ended in guilty verdicts in three of the five counts.Kirby Vincent Moore was arrested February 25 and indicted by a Grand Jury April 8. His trial started Oct. 28 and included more than a dozen witnesses.

Javian Gibson, a senior at Jones County High School, has earned a place on the Georgia Department of Education’s Student Advisory Council. He is one of 78 students selected from more than 1,250 applicants across the state.

Georgia ranked near the bottom of a first-ever analysis of Medicare performance by a foundation that promotes access to quality health care.The new rankings by The Commonwealth Fund put Georgia in 42nd place out of 50 states and Washington, D.C. — behind Alaska and ahead of New Mexico.
