Having gone through the meat of their region schedule, the Lady Greyhounds biggest challenges of the regular season have come and gone. But that does not mean that there is a reason for Jones County to relent.
Following last week’s sweep of Warner Robins and Jackson, Jones County (18-7) found itself 12th in the PSR, putting it well within range to open next week’s state tournament at home. The top 16 teams in PSR will host, unless a team outside that range wins its region since all region champions are guaranteed a first-round home series.
“This time of year, you want to try and win everything you can. You want to try and position yourself the best you can in the power rankings,” Lady Greyhounds head coach Tripp Burt said. “It’s going to move a little but not a ton. You just have to take care what you are supposed to. A win can move you up one or who you beat earlier can move you up. It’s very fluid.”
Staying sharp is also key for Jones County, which closed the regular season earlier this week against Houston County, ACE, and Bleckley County. That came after a region sweep of Warner Robins on Tuesday and separate 15-0 and 9-5 road wins against Jackson.
