Friends of the Library book sale
The Friends of the Library will have a book sale Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 273 Railroad St. on JC Pre-K campus, building next to the high school track. Many books are free.
Proceeds go to the Jones County Public Library. Feature of the month: WESTERNS.
Hunter education classes
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will be conducting the required Hunter Safety classes soon in Jones County. Georgia Law requires the Hunter Safety Certification for anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1961 in order to hunt on public lands. A classroom course taught by qualified instructors with hands-on training will be taught on Saturday, Aug.
20, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This class will be held at the Jones County Fire Station 5 in Wayside. Attendance is required to be certified. There is no cost for this class. All supplies are provided.
Signing up for the classes on the DNR website is required and easy. Go to https:// georgiawildlife.com/hunting/ huntereducation and click on the ‘Find and sign up for a class’ under FREE COURSES.

JCFD Station 1 fundraiser
Station 1 Fire Department will have a live drawing Sept. 3, at 12 noon for a $500 Bass Pro Shop gift card. Tickets are $10 each. Proceeds go towards Station 1 to help with supplies, training, etc.

Ocmulgee CASA training
Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will hold its Fall volunteer training every Monday and Wednesday, beginning Sept.
14 through Oct. 9, from 1-4 p.m. at Lakeview Academy in Milledgeville. Trainees must attend all nine sessions to complete the training.
CASA volunteers serve as the voice for children in foster care. They attend court hearings and advocate for the best interests of the child. For more information, please call 478-452-9170 or visit ocmulgeecasa.org.
