The Jones County High School Class of 1967 held its 55th reunion on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 at Butler Hall in Gray. Thirty four classmates and their guests attended along with special guests former football coach and school superintendent Lint Jordan and former basketball coach and teacher Jim Hearn. The group also gathered on Friday night, August 12th at Bent Axle Restaurant for an evening of socializing and dining on the restaurant’s excellent food.
On Saturday night, Class Vice President Sandra Hammock Blythe served as the mistress of ceremonies by welcoming everyone and providing a brief history of Butler Hall. She also honored the twenty six classmates, from a class of eighty seven students, who have passed away.
Class President Frank Childs was unable to attend but joined the group via video conferencing. After a special blessing by class member Jimmy Kennedy, the class enjoyed a wonderful meal catered by Specialties of the House while music from the 1960s played in the background.
These events continued an unbroken tradition of having a reunion every five years beginning in 1972. The celebration will continue with a tailgate event at a JCHS football game later this year.
