Greyhounds, Northside to open season in Kickoff Classic again
The Macon Touchdown Club announced its matchup for the Middle Georgia Kickoff Classic on Sunday afternoon, and it will once again include the Greyhounds. Jones County play a familiar opponent in Northside in the Aug. 19 event at Mercer University’s Five Star Stadium, and kickoff will be at 4 p.m. with the other game to follow being Mary Persons against Northeast Macon.
The only difference will be the designated home/away teams being alternated, meaning that Northside will have the option to wear its home jerseys since they will be the designated home content 27-21.
Parks & Rec Basketball Champs Crowned
Jones County Parks & Recreation crowned its basketball champions over the weekend with first place being captured by teams in seven different divisions.
The Spurs won the Shooters Division with the winners of the Instructional Girls and Boys Divisions being the Hawks and Kings. The Mite Girls and Mite Boys title went to similarly-named Lakers teams with first place in the Junior Boys going to the Warriors and the Hawks winning the Senior Boys championship.
