Destin Howard continues to be part of the fortunes for Georgia on the softball diamond. The Lady Bulldogs began last weekend ranked in the top five with Howard being part of the overall pitching rotation, seeing time in wins against Purdue, Radford and Dartmouth so far this year, hurling a combined eight innings and yielding one hit overall.
Howard in the process has picked up one win and one save for Georgia.
Brevard College is 6-6 so far this baseball season with Jacob Thompson being among the most-utilized pitchers.
He has started in two games and his 9.2 innings pitched rates third on the Tornadoes roster.
Freshmen Brody Gordon and Dawson Harris have seen time early on for Gordon State. Gordon has pitched 2.1 innings overall, striking out two batters to go with also having a pair of games with plate appearances. Gordon has started three games with four appearances overall, striking out 10 batters in 13 innings.
For Georgia College, Keagan Baxter has begun to see time coming off the bench, drawing a walk in one of his two plate appearances for the Bobcats.
Aiden Payne was responsible for a run scored in GCSU’s 11-7 win against Mount Olive on Feb. 28.
Jaylen Sanford has seen plenty chances to make an impact on the basketball court this season for Itawamba College. Overall, he has played in 27 games, averaging four points per game as a key role player coming off the bench in a season in which the Indians are 20-7 so far. Sanford’s teammate from last season at JCHS, DaethanHarris, has seen limited time with Vorhees College, having played in a pair of contests so far this year.
