Gary William Sargent, 76, of Homer Roberts Road, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the home of Sunni Kiser, 2988 Graham Road, Gray. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Elam Baptist Church with Pastor Adam Bray conducting the service.
Mr. Sargent was born in Macon on August 26, 1947, to the late William Raymond Sargent, Jr., and Mary Sue Rozier Sargent.
Gary was a lifelong resident of Jones County.
Gary spent his early adult years in service to our country as a marine, and once he returned home, he spent a large portion of his working years in their family-owned business, Sargent’s Sheet Metal.
Gary spent his later years retired, serving through his church, and engaging in local programs with friends that met the needs of those right in his own hometown.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Sargent, Raymond Sargent, and Sammy Sargent; sisters, Donna Sargent and Fayth White; and niece, Shannon Barlow Raley. Gary is survived by his sister, Shirley Phillips; sisterin- law, Toni Sargent; his nieces and nephews, Ronnie, Kenny, Bryant, Rhonda, Danielle, Hope, Shona, Lee, Angie, Sunni, Christina, Monica, Glenn and Josh; and by several great nieces and nephews.
