HOOP HOUNDS
Both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds got a new element to compete within last Friday – fans in the stands.
Both teams held intrasquad scrimmages last week in their annual Purple & White Game. Both teams were divided into two teams, going against one another in segments of competition with a running clock in place.
The will to compete was strong for both teams, In the girls game, the Purple Team won 33-32 as a shot at the buzzer bounced off the rim.
“We saw some things we need to work on and some bad things. We’ll get after it (this week),” Lady Greyhounds head coach ChoRhonda Gwaltney- Harris said.
After a short break, a one-sided go of things ended up closer in the end with the Purple side winning the boys game 46-36.
“Some guys are ready for the moment, and some aren’t,” Greyhounds head coach Buck Harris said. “It was good to get in here and let some people watch and see.”
Both teams will scrimmage Cross Creek at home on Thursday before opening the season on Saturday night as part of the Hooping In Middle Georgia Classic.
The Lady Greyhounds game against Veterans is scheduled for 6 pm with the Greyhounds slated to play New Hampstead at 7:30 p.m.
