A very unlucky draw deprived the Greyhounds from wrestling in last year’s AAAAA duals. Now, with a new format to qualify teams for state in place, Jones County is out to ensure that it does not miss out on the opportunity again. “It’s double elimination, but the top two go to state.

Lady Hounds overcome short bench to turn back Bears

From tip off on Friday, the Lady Greyhounds were at a disadvantage against Houston County. With one glance down to the opposite end of the court, the Bears had a depth of at least six or seven players in reserve.

Dawgs make statement with rout of Florida State

Georgia made a huge statement in its 63-3 rout of Florida State this past Saturday in the Orange Bowl. Both teams were left out of the College Football Playoff, but the No. 6 Bulldogs showed why they should have made it after losing to No. 4 Alabama in the SEC Championship game on Dec. 2.

Greyhounds laser-focused on looming region duals

The focus is pretty singular for the Greyhounds as they emerge out of Christmas break. That’s to be the best version of themselves next weekend for the region duals on Jan. 13. That’ll bring all of the region’s wrestling teams to JCHS for a dual format tournament.

Hartley named Tight Ends Coach of The Year

Jones County native Todd Hartley has received another accolade as his reputation as one of the nation’s top tight end coaches continues to grow. Hartley, also a former athletic standout with the Greyhounds, was named Tight Ends Coach of The Year on Friday by FootballScoop.

Youth track & field registration now open Online registration is now open for the 2024 Jones County Youth Track & Field season, open to boys and girls ages 7-14, with in-person registration on Jan. 6 and Jan. 20 at the W.E Knox Civic Center.
