There’s one thing that both the Lady Greyhounds and Greyhounds are not afraid of early in a season – a barometer of tough competition. With a girls region that brags the state’s secondranked team and a boys region of four teams in AAAAA’s top 10, getting a gauge on strengths and weaknesses is key.
The Greyhounds finished sixth in Friday’s GHSA Class AAAAA meet and 24th out of all classifications, beating out multiple schools from the Atlanta area. CONTRIBUTED

Top-ranked Georgia (9-0, 6-0 SEC) survived a late scare against No. 12 Missouri (7-2, 3-2) this past Saturday. The Bulldogs made plays when they needed to come out on top over the Tigers, 30-21.

For the second year in a row, Jones County gets its shot to go for a state championship among the Georgia’s best. Jones County’s competition cheerleaders went to McIntosh on Saturday and returned with a second-place trophy in the region.
