JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After trailing Florida early this past week, No. 1 Georgia turned up the heat quickly. The Gators led 7-3 after each team’s first drive in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs responded by scoring 36 unanswered points.

Georgia shifts focus to Mizzou’s high-powered offense

Top-ranked Georgia is set to host a much-improved Missouri squad this Saturday at Sanford Stadium. The No. 15 Tigers (7-1 SEC, 5-0) are playing well at this point in the season and they’re hoping to come into Athens and knock off the two-time defending national champion Bulldogs (8-0, 5-0).

New faces set to step up following historic season

The Greyhounds will officially begin the task of repeating last year’s run to the state semifinals on Thursday when they host Cross Creek. The work toward preparing for that and a varied early-season span kicked up a notch last week with the continuation of practice.

Region title on the line for Demons, Hounds

A region title is at stake on Friday for the Greyhounds, and the shot will come against one of their more recent nemeses. Winners of five in a row, Jones County (6-2) goes to Warner Robins (5-3) on Friday in the next-to-last game of the regular season.

The region’s cross country supremacy still belongs to Jones County. The course may have been different, but the results were the same as a year ago – a clean sweep of the region cross country titles for the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds, this time coming on Locust Grove’s home course.
