Another state title now calls Jones County home. After claiming a Little League district coach pitch title last weekend, Jones County’s team of all stars headed to the Atlanta area this past weekend and came home as state little league coach pitch champions.

One of the GHSA’s two summer dead weeks came to a close to begin last week, and strong evidence was shown on the lower end of the JCHS campus with voluntary football workouts getting started.

Jones County’s Jordy Nipper continued his mastery of Senoia Raceway on the dirt track racing circuit on Saturday. He drove to a secondplace finish in the limited late model feature at the 3/8-mile dirt track after qualifying third.

One of the fastest growing sports in Georgia is coming to Jones County’s recreation fields. Sign-ups for girls flag football are now underway for ages 7-14. At this time, plans are for teams to compete in 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U age divisions.

Youth Football and Cheerleading sign-ups go through Aug. 1 Sign ups run until Aug. 1 for Jones County Youth Football and Cheerleading. The age for both is 5-12, and the cost of $130 per participant. Uniform fitting will be mandatory and birth certificates should be presented when registering.
