With the summer all-star tournament scene shifting into high gear, Jones County is taking advantage of the opportunity to roll out the red carpet.

With the calendar turning toward summer, two more head coaches are in place for two Jones County sports. They join Kim Hanner, who was previously tapped as head coach of the Lady Greyhounds volleyball program.

Girls Basketball Camp The Lady Greyhounds will host their girls basketball camp from June 12-15 for ages 6-18 at the JCHS Gymnasium. The cost is $100 per camper. For more info, email cgwaltney@jones.k12.ga.

From the green to graduation: Goins finishes top-10 in state tournament, graduates same day

Keegan Goins began last Tuesday by teeing off in her final round as a Lady Greyhound at the state tournament, helping Jones County to an overall finish of eighth in the state.

Ragins, Wommack and Palmer lead JCHS all-region selections

JCHS track and field athletes have not only wrapped up their season with top finishes against region competition and beyond but with recent all-region selections, as well. A total of three were first-team selections, led by Zion Ragins in the 100 and 200 meters.

Coach Buck’s Greyhound Basketball Camp Coach Buck’s Greyhound Basketball Camp will be held June 5-8, and sign ups are now open. Each day of the camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The camp is open to ages 6-14 and is $125 per person. For more info, email CoachBuckHarris@gmail.

Hamm fourth in at D2 Outdoor Nationals Shareez Hamm, a 2016 graduate of Jones County, gave the Academy of Art track & field team a finish of fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at Saturday’s NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Pueblo, Colo.

Georgia Ravens announce schedule

The schedule for the Georgia Ravens, a local semi-pro football team that will play its home games at the Highway 18 Recreational Complex, has been announced. The season will open July 9 at the Winchester Ducks. Then, following an off week, the Ravens will host the Cherokee Bruins on July 22.
