WARNER ROBINS - The Volley Hounds got what any team is looking for in the latter part of the regular season last Tuesday when it won a region match against Dutchtown. The win was not only Jones County’s first against Dutchtown but also the first against a team from Henry County in varsity play.

Finney putting unbeaten record on the line again

Torrez Finney’s professional record in the mixed martial arts (MMA) ranks remains undefeated. He’ll put that unblemished 3-0 record on the line again later this month in a return to the IKON Fighting Championship ranks when he faces Ivan Batinich on Oct. 14.

Smart: ‘We did not play well’

Top-ranked Georgia got a taste of reality Saturday on Faurot Field at Mizzou’s Memorial Stadium. The Bulldogs competed in a four-quarter clash with Missouri and came out on top with a 26-22 victory. But the Tigers led Georgia until late in the contest.

Greyhounds win third meet in a row

Make that three wins in a row for the Greyhounds boys cross country team. The distance may have been different than some meets, but the result was similar last Thursday afternoon in Bleckley County in the invitational event held on a two-mile course.

Robertson, Blue Devils 4-1 ahead of Georgia Tech game

Duke’s hot start on the gridiron continued on Saturday with help from Jones County’s Jontavis Robertson. The JCHS product had a catch for three yards as part of an offense that rolled up 38 points in a 38-17 win over Virginia, Duke’s first win against the Cavaliers since 2014.

Lady Hounds in final stretch of season
