The Lady Greyhounds made quick work of Cedar Shoals in Tuesday’s first round of the state tournament, winning 55-38.With the win, Jones County is once again bound for the round of 16 where it’ll host Northview at 6 p.m. on Friday with a slot in the quarterfinals at stake.

The Lady Greyhounds have their crown. With Friday’s 41-40 win against Stockbridge in the Region 2-AAAA tournament, the Lady Hounds won the region tourney title after going unbeaten against the region in the regular season.

The Lady Greyhounds have one more mountain to climb for region supremacy. After going 18-0 in the regular season against every team in the region, Jones County will play for a region tournament title on Friday at Woodland Stockbridge with tipoff set for 7 p.m.

Even with a slow start, the Greyhounds found plenty of ease on Monday afternoon in their official season opener against Howard.Cason Taylor and Trent Paulk combined to one-hit the Huskies as Jones County scored runs in all but the first inning, prevailing after five innings on the mercy rule.

An upset of Stockbridge the week before took some buzz out of the final week of the regular season for the Lady Greyhounds, wrapping up the top seed for the region tournament before Wednesday’s game against Stockbridge even tipped off.
