With practice a week into the season ahead of the Nov. 15 season opener, the time window is slim for the Greyhounds and new head coach Willie Reese.As with any new coaching staff, there’s bound to be an adjustment phase.

Home-course advantage: Cross county teams eager to host GHSA sectionals

The bright spotlight of the state’s cross-country community will zero in on Gray Saturday for what may arguably be the largest gathering for a sporting event in the history of Jones County with the hosting of the GHSA cross country sectionals for the AAA and AAAA classifications.

Greyhounds score quickly on Eagles Landing in shutout win

Jones County stuck to a tried-and-true formula on Friday against Eagles Landing.A 42-0 shutout win on senior night over the Eagles came as they leaned heavily on the screen pass and made it work very well, piling up 394 offensive yards in a contest that ended with the running clock in place.

Ched “Boogie” Smith had a teamhigh eight tackles for LaGrange College to go with a tackle for a loss in Saturday’s 52-16 win against Greensboro. The Panthers, 4-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play, play Saturday at Huntingdon College.
