On February 7, 2024, Georgia 811’s mascot, Digger Dog and Ms. Maria, visited Gray Elementary School, in Gray, Georgia, encouraging students in 2nd and 3rd grade to “know what’s below and contact 811 before they dig.” Sharing safety information and having a bit of fun, Digger and Ms.

Calvin McDaniel is the local veteran of the week. He turned 18 in 1942 and joined the Navy as soon as he could. He was in the Air Corps and had basic training in Bainbridge, Md.He was stationed aboard an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific but never went into battle.
