City, county considering TSPLOST

Jones County Commissioners followed through with last month’s vote to begin the process for placing a referendum for a Single-County Transportation Special Local Option Sales Tax on the ballot in November. The commissioners took the next step of holding a meeting with the City of Gray Feb.

Sheriff Butch Reece ended any speculation about his future plans as Jones County’s top law enforcement officer with last week’s announcement that he will run for re-election. Reece talked about his 44 years as sheriff in a Feb.

DUI becomes felony after fight attempt

A series of bad decisions escalated traffic offenses to felony charges that were recently indicted by a Jones County Grand Jury. Michael Rawlins Snider was indicted Feb. 5 on three counts of felony obstruction of an officer. Snider was arrested Nov.
