Gray Station hosts 7th grade Sneaker Ball

Gray Station Middle School hosted their seventh grade Sneaker Ball on Feb. 2, giving students a chance to relax and enjoy an evening at school dancing with friends and making memories. Meredith Barnwell, PEC teacher at Gray Station Middle School, said she was excited for the Sneaker Ball.

Man pleads guilty to fleeing from cops, to serve two years

A Jones County defendant who attempted to run from law enforcement during a traffic stop received two years to serve in confinement following the entry of a guilty plea last week. Eric Deshawn Bell entered his plea Jan. 29 following plea negotiations with the state.

Man charged for wife’s accidental murder dies

The death of a Jones County murder defendant was the end of a tragedy that began with the declining mental health of an aging parent and led to an unforeseen chain of deadly events. District Attorney Wright Barksdale said he was notified of the death of 87-year-old Charles Hill Sr. Feb. 1.
The Jones County/Gray Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Jan. 31 to celebrate the renovation and reopening of the Jones County Health Department located at 114 Forest Street in Gray.
