Two all-star teams to play in regionals this weekend

A pair of local all-star football teams will represent Jones County in Saturday’s GRPA State Regionals in Carrollton. One will be the 10U All Stars, who beat Peach County 27-0 on Nov. 18. It’s the first time in six years that Jones County will send a 10U team to regionals.

Georgia swats Yellow Jackets, finish season 12-0

Georgia finished its third-straight season with a 12-0 record after defeating Georgia Tech 31-22 at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday in Atlanta. Georgia’s active winning streak is now at 29 games. Dating back to the 2020 season, the Bulldogs have won 45 of their last 46 contests.

Breadth of roster helps Lady Hounds stay on winning track

The Lady Greyhounds see their depth and ability to outlast the opposition as a strength. That asset’s importance was reinforced in last week’s Wade Classic at Clarke Central in Athens. “Being in shape, that gets us further,” Lady Greyhounds head coach ChoRhonda Gwaltney- Harris said.

Hounds turn up pressure to overwhelm Glenn Hills

From this point forward, the bulk of the Greyhounds games will carry more weight. That’s because, for the most part, they will be against region opponents. Jones County, which began region play on Tuesday at Union Grove, hosts Houston County Friday and plays Saturday at Northside.

ALUMNI UPDATE

East Carolina’s season came to an end in a heartbreaking 29-27 loss to Tulsa with Javious Bond rushing four times for 23 yards and Javion Clark seeing time again as he was listed on the participation chart.

Greyhounds bag multiple big wins at Gauntlet in Gray, place second

Revenge from a season ago. A strong showing in front of a home crowd. Multiple wrestlers ending a day of wrestling undefeated. Saturday was a day that the Greyhounds did just that.

Greyhounds’ upset bid falls short to Coffee

DOUGLAS – Going against an offense that had run all over the opposition all season long and a running back that had stockpiled yards for an undefeated and top-rated team, Jones County gave the Coffee Trojans all that they could handle for a better part of the way on Friday at Jardine Stadium.
