Fire destroys home on Amanda Drive

A home in the City of Gray received devastating damage from a fire that may have started in an outdoor trash can. A report of the May 25 fire that took place on Amanda Drive by City of Gray Fire Chief Keith Eisele states the home was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene.

The Jones County Nutrition Department is offering the Seamless Summer Program again this year from June 5 through 29 to children in Jones County who wish to participate in healthy meals.

Gray Downtown Development Authority members looked at streetscape improvements and discussed charitable contributions at this month’s meeting. DDA Chairman Sherri Rollins called the May 8 meeting to order, and the first order of business was the financial report.

The City of Gray’s all committees meeting was a bit sparce with only two of the six usual members in attendance. The May 15 meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem James Collins, and the only other member there was Councilman David Tufts.
Scott Walston, owner of Gray Memorial Chapel, and his business were honored by the Jones County Club for his support of and contributions to the service club which have assisted the club in supporting projects and agencies in Jones County that benefit children. President Durrett Childs presented the plaque and thanked Scott for his service and financial support since he has been a member of Kiwanis. CONTRIBUTED
