Recently returned missionary helped others connect with Christ

Nicholas Johnson, a young member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Gray, served his mission trip to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and recently returned to Jones County with his faith stronger than ever. Johnson said he’s lived in Jones County his entire life.

Ye are the salt of the earth (Matt 5:13) Each Christian is like a grain of salt for the cause of Christ. Why did Jesus refer to us as salt? Salt adds flavor. What would mashed potatoes taste like without salt? Like tasteless paste! The church adds flavor to life.

Childs says retirement will stick this time

Legislators speak to BOC during first 2023 meeting

Jones County Commissioners had a visit from the county’s state representatives at their first board meeting of the year. The Jan. 3 meeting was called to order by Chairman Chris Weidner. He welcomed the first speaker, State Rep. Dale Washburn, who represents Georgia House District 144.

Council approves repaving roads, changes to employee retirement

The Gray City Council approved an ordinance amending the retirement plan for city employees and approved four resolutions during a short monthly meeting on Jan. 9. The meeting was postponed for a week from the normal first Monday spot on the calendar due to the New Year’s Day holiday.

Young driver dies in single vehicle wreck

Another life was lost on Eatonton Highway last week when a 19-year-old was killed after apparently losing control in a curve of the dangerous road just after midnight. Jones County Sheriff’s Office Fatality Investigator Capt. Kenny Allen stated in a Jan.
