Driver charged with vehicular homicide for fatal wreck

The driver of a vehicle involved in a Feb. 20 fatal accident turned himself into the Jones County Law Enforcement Center last week to face the charge of homicide by vehicle.The estimated time of the accident was 7:21 p.m., according to the report by Jones County Sheriff’s Office Cpl.

Woman to undergo treatment as part of arson plea

Treatment is a large part of the sentence of a Jones County woman who pled guilty to the charge of arson.Amanda Danielle Drye was in Jones County Superior Court Feb. 19 to enter a negotiated guilty plea. She was sentenced to 20 years for the offense of arson in the first degree.

A Georgia College student was found dead in his bed and an investigation is ongoing by local authorities.Ethan Knight, 23, of Gray, was discovered by his roommates shortly before 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16.

A Jones County Grand Jury heard 27 bills of indictment presented by the district attorney’s office and law enforcement and brought back true bills on 25 of those.Those indictments included six aggravated assault charges and two charges of the trafficking of methamphetamine.
