Volley Hounds eyeing another step forward, and then some more

By the nature of progression, the Lady Greyhounds are expecting another leap forward this season in the program’s third year. The Volley Hounds, who got their first match win as a program last year, are aiming to exceed that measure this season.

The Greyhounds wrapped up last week with Cedar Shoals and Jefferson in town for two days of organized team activities (OTAs). The next time JCHS sees outside competition will be Aug. 12 in a home scrimmage against Buford prior to the season opener Nov. 20 against Northside.

With the season-opening meet of the cross country season less than three weeks away Aug. 13 in Perry and time trials a week earlier, the push to be ready when the season begins and also set the top order of runners continues to be of the essence for the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds.

Deadline for youth football, cheerleading sign ups is Aug. 1 Those interested in signing up for Jones County youth football and cheerleading have until Aug. 1 for sign up. Opening day is Sept. 17 with picture day on Sept. 18. Mandatory tryouts will take place Aug. 7 at 2 p.m.
