The first half of the Greyhounds region schedule wrapped up Wednesday at first-place Ola, leading right into Thursday’s home game against McDonough that will begin the second side of the region schedule.

Jones County’s eighth grade football team cranked up the offense in last week’s win against Upson Lee, winning 47-30. Laquon Pendleton and Amarion Ussery each rushed for three touchdowns, and Chandlon Stone ran back an interception for a touchdown.

It was a tale of two halves for top-ranked Georgia against No. 14 Clemson in its 34-3 win last Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.The Bulldogs couldn’t find the end zone in the first half, leading the Tigers 6-0 at the end of the second quarter.

It’s been a different way of doing things for the Greyhounds this season in terms of individuals playing on both sides of the ball and how they rotate into play.In the midst of that change, Jones County is 2-0 after Friday’s 48-19 win against Woodland in the region opener.
