With Buck Harris and ChoRhonda Gwaltney-Harris at the helm, both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds have forged into the state tournament and past at least the first round for the past two seasons. Now, both coaches will be aiming to take their squads into the postseason elsewhere.

Even outside region play last week, the Greyhounds found some late-inning magic. Trailing by a run through five innings, Jones County rallied to beat West Laurens Thursday at Cecil Patterson field on Davis Upshaw’s single in the eighth inning to cement the extra-inning victory.

The venue was far from home on Friday for the Gym Hounds as they traveled deep into south Georgia to take part in a meet hosted by Colquitt County.By the time it all ended, Jones County came away with an overall finish of fifth leading into Saturday’s home meet at Elite Gymnastics in Milledgeville.
