Region matches began last week on the tennis court for Jones County, and both teams found measures of success. The Lady Greyhounds won against Locust Grove and Ola with the Greyhounds splitting.

Aniya Canty’s sophomore campaign at Florida A&M is off to a strong start as she is one of the Rattlers’ offensive leaders. In addition to leading the team in total bases, she is second in batting average, doubles and RBIs. FAMU opens conference play this weekend against Alabama State.

Current and future wrestlers from Jones County headed to the club circuit over the weekend in search of medals and an opportunity to face high-level competition.By the time it was all over, multiple local wrestlers came home with top finishes, including two first-place finishes.

It was a busy week on the diamond last week for Clifton Ridge Middle, whose results included a 12-9 win against Henderson before capping off the week in hosting Ace Charter. The Cougars play Thursday at Monroe County and host Upson Lee March 11.
